ford foundation

Ford Foundation:

The Ford Foundation is the sole funder for Girls and Boys on The Move, our first proposal was approved in 2011, with our objective of the project being to provide young girls within Alexandra and Soweto access to gender, sexuality and HIV information, services and resources in order to mediate gender disparity, unhealthy sexuality choices and HIV infection, with a larger aim of reducing teenage pregnancy.

This worked very well with the Foundations own vision and objectives being “Working with visionaries on the Frontlines of Social Change by advancing policies and programmes that ensure the improved sexual and reproductive health of marginalized young women.

We received recommendation from the schools that we should include boys and the Ford Foundation did not at any stage disagree with this and then Girls and Boys on the Move was incorporated.

Support not only monitory but workshops and constant interactions and meeting with our Programs Officer, Eka Williams has shown the commitment from the foundation that it is not about granting grants but providing support to grow and reach the objectives we have put out.
